What kind of visa do I need
for volunteering?
If you
plan on staying for 3 months or less you can get an L (tourist) visa.
If you want to stay longer you would have to get it renewed.

What kind of volunteer work
can I do?
We place international
volunteers at senior centers, centers for disable children, and
cerebral palsy hospitals. Your duties are to assist the residents of
these welfare centers with daily tasks and also to provide some
company. For example, play cards with seniors, teach disabled kids how
to tie a shoe, read to cerebral palsy patients, etc.
3.
Are there specific start
dates for volunteering?
No, you
can begin year round. You should let us know what program you want to
do at least 2 weeks before you come so we can make arrangements.
4.
How long can I volunteer
for?
You can volunteer for one
week, one year, or anything in between.
5.
What if I don’t like the
place I volunteer at?
We can try to solve the
problem otherwise you can volunteer somewhere else if you choose. You
would be here on your own will so we would not pressure you into doing
anything you don’t want to do.
6.
How can I decide what
program is right for me?
We have brief introductions
of our volunteer programs on our website. We cannot guarantee that you
will be placed in the program you chose. Our choice will depend both
on your preference, the preference of other volunteers we work with,
and with the demand for volunteers in welfare institutions.
7.
Can I choose how many hours
I will volunteer?
Volunteers are required to
work 2-3 hours per day 3 times per week. If this is not enough for
you, you should let us know and we will try to provide more hours.
8.
Will I be the only foreign
volunteer at the institution?
Yes, there will most likely be several other
international volunteers working at the welfare institution with you.
Occasionally, this will not be the case.
9.
Will I have free time and
time to tour China?
As a volunteer, you will
have a lot of free time to experience China if you’d like. We only ask
that you fulfill our requested commitment to the selected welfare
center before you start traveling.
